This post explains and give practice opportunities related to TEKS 6.13A:
interpret numeric data summarized in dot plots, stem-and-leaf plots, histograms, and box plots
Students revisit two forms of data representation they've already learned - line plots and stem-and-leaf plots.
Students are introduced to histograms, which look very similar to bar graphs.
Finally, box plots (sometimes known as box-and-whisker plots) show data in a brand new way.
Between 2016 and 2023 (including redesign practice), this supporting standard has been tested 14 times on the STAAR test. Videos explaining the problems can be found below.
