3rd Grade Math - Solving Multiplication and Division Problems

This post explains and gives practice opportunities related to TEKS 3.4K:

solve one-step and two-step problems involving multiplication and division within 100 using strategies based on objects; pictorial models, including arrays, area models, and equal groups; properties of operations; or recall of facts

Instruction

The trick with this standard comes with the possibility of two-step problems. There are many strategies that can be used to solve multiplication and division problems.

For some problems, you might need to know how to perform division beyond basic facts - the dreaded LONG DIVISION!

STAAR Practice

Between 2016 and 2025 (including redesign practice), this readiness standard has been tested 16 times on the STAAR test. Videos explaining each problem can be found below.
