3rd Grade Math - Multiplication as Comparison
This post explains and give practice opportunities related to TEKS 3.5C:
describe a multiplication expression as a comparison such as 3 x 24 represents 3 times as much as 24
Most of us think of multiplication as equal groups. While that is one way to look at it, students also learn that sometimes multiplication is used to compare two values.
Between 2016 and 2019, this supporting standard has been tested twice on the STAAR test. Videos explaining each problem can be found below.
