This post explains and give practice opportunities related to TEKS 6.8C:
write equations that represent problems related to the area of rectangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, and triangles and volume of right rectangular prisms where dimensions are positive rational numbers
Students learn how to find the area of a trapezoid in 6th grade and there's more than one way to write the formula.
Students also recall equations for area and volume for previously learned shapes.
Between 2016 and 2021, this supporting standard has been tested 5 times on the STAAR test. Videos explaining the problems can be found below.
