This post explains and give practice opportunities related to TEKS 4.8A:
identify relative sizes of measurement units within the customary and metric systems
Students learn how various measurements of length compare with each other.
Additionally, they learn how capacity (liquid volume) uses different measurements for the metric and customary systems.
Finally, students learn that weight (customary) and mass (metric) use different units of measurement.
Between 2016 and 2021, this supporting standard has been tested 3 times on the STAAR test. Videos explaining the problems can be found below.
